There are many young players in the WSL but some are yet to make their name. Mia Enderby had a spectacular 23/24 season but with players leaving, she could be too or she could be reaching new heights at the scouse club as well as many others that are featured.
Izzy Atkinson (Crystal Palace):
Some people might recognise this familiar face as she has already been in the WSL just six months ago. Atkinson moved to the London Championship side after featuring only 21 times for the Hammers over a span of two years.
The 22 year old Ireland International started off in her home country as in 2017 she signed for Shelbourne before moving to Celtic in Scotland in 2021. After playing in the championship this past season, she played 10 times in the league and scored two goals as well as getting promoted with the eagles.
For Ireland, she is already a recognised player after featuring in many camps making her one to watch after her season with Crystal Palace as well. She is recognised as a full-back and winger.
Issy Hobson (Everton):
Issy Hobson burst onto the scene this season as she made her debut after coming on during their away trip against Manchester City in March. In the league she made four appearances as well as making her league debut against Leicester at the start of 2024.
The 16 year old became the youngest goalscorer in the Women’s Super League after scoring vs Arsenal. This was Everton’s first point against the North London side in 12 years. She also plays her International football for the U17 England Lionesses and made 2 appearances for them.
The Midfielder is versatile and as she is so young she has her whole career ahead of her. In the next few years, she can move on and become great in a completely different country. She is a full flowing midfielder that when coming off the bench can change the game and this shows why she is one to watch this season.
Michelle Agyemang (Arsenal):
Agyemang has featured a few times for the gunners as well as being a lifelong gooner and joined the North London side aged just six years old. She was on a dual registration this season with Women’s Championship side Watford. She made five appearances and scored four times for the hornets.
Her International career has been very similar to those in the list. Since her debut with Arsenal in 2022, she has featured for the U16, U17 and the U19 Lionesses sides. For the U16’s she made two appearances as well as scoring two goals, for the U17 side she made 12 appearances and netted 10 goals. For the England U19 side she has scored four goals in two appearances.
Her use of space in and around the box is proving vital and making her one to watch as she could make her proper breakthrough during this season after featuring in the camp for the Arsenal tour in Australia.
Mia Enderby (Liverpool):
Mia Enderby started off her career in Leeds at their talent centre from 2017-2021 before moving to Sheffield United at the age of 16 in 2021. The 19 year old was at Sheffield United for two years from 2021-2023 featuring 33 times in the league as well as scoring seven goals. In 2023, She moved to Liverpool and since then has featured for the scouse side 14 times in the league.
On an international level, she has featured for the U17 Lionesses side from 2021-2022 racking up six appearances for the side before moving to the U19 Lionesses group. Since 2022, she has featured 11 times for them and scored on three occasions.
Mia Enderby is one to watch and look out for during the season as when she comes on, she improves the game and should be starting every game. She is a super sub as the forward likes to get in and between the players and glides through defenders.
Poppy Pritchard (Man City):
Poppy Pritchard is a new name to both the Women’s Super League and to many around. She was an academy product from Women’s Championship side Durham in the North East. She joined the Manchester City side on 31st January, just two weeks after initially playing them in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. She joined on a three and a half year deal as well as having interest from fellow Women’s Super League side Tottenham Hotspur.
The 18 year old made 17 appearances for Durham in two years as well as scoring two goals. For Manchester City, she is yet to make her debut but has featured on the bench a few times in the second half of the season. For England Lionesses she has featured for the U19 since 2023 and has scored nine goals in nine appearances for the side.
Due to Injuries and players leaving the side that finished second place last campaign, Pritchard could feature a few times at the start of the season due to these injuries. Failing that, she could move to a Championship club to get her experience up as she is a forward with lots of promising talent given what she did at Durham.
