Many teams have moved leagues from last season and some have even changed their names but what does the opening weekend look like for the national league?
Northern Premier Division
Burnley vs Hull City:
Burnley host Yorkshire club Hull City at Lancashire County FA as they look to kick off their season. Hull City got promoted last season from the Division North section which is in tier four of the football pyramid.
Their last game was at FC United of Manchester as they won 6-1 with Burnley having a 2-0 loss last time out away from home against Derby on the last day of the season. Hull were on a good streak to end the season as they won three, drew one and lost one. Burnley on the other hand won three and lost one, including winning the Lancashire FA Cup.
Liverpool Feds vs West Bromwich Albion:
West Brom travel to Leisure United as Liverpool Feds host the midlands club. Liverpool’s last game was a trip to Redditch United as they won 2-0 to finish last season with West Brom losing against already promoted Newcastle United as they lost 4-0 in their final game.
Liverpool's last games have included three loses, one win and one draw meanwhile for West Brom they have won their last two and lost three of their previous five games last season.
Sporting Khalsa vs Derby County:
Derby County travel to Guardian Warehousing Arena on the opening day as they face Sporting Khalsa. Sporting Khalsa got promoted last season as they made the jump from Division One Midlands to Northern Premier Division.
Sporting Khalsa’s last game was against sheffield as they won 3-1 at their place with Derby’s last game against Burnley at Turf Moor as they won 2-0. Derby’s last five games included three wins as well as two losses and Khalsa’s last five were all wins in Division One Midlands.
Halifax vs Rugby Borough:
Halifax will host Rugby Borough at the Horsfall Stadium in the first game of the season with both sides in the Southern Premier Division last season. Halifax won 3-0 in their last match in the league as they hosted AFC Fylde meanwhile Rugby Borough last played against Chatham. Halifax are on an unbeaten streak as they have won their last four and drew against promotion side Newcastle.
Stoke City vs Nottingham Forest
Stoke host Nottingham Forest on the opening day as they faced each other on the final day of the season. Stoke won 2-0 against the side at home but Forest are looking for the win this time.
Stoke’s last five included one loss, one draw and three wins meanwhile for Nottingham Forest, they have won three matches and lost two of their last five.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Stourbridge
Stourbridge head to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the opening weekend. They last faced each other on the 3rd of April with Wolves winning 8-0 away from home.
Their last league game was the final game of the season against Liverpool feds as they won 2-1 away from home. Stourbridge’s last game was an away trip to Huddersfield as they drew 3-3 on the final day. Wolverhampton Wanderers have won three out of their five games with one loss and one draw (penalty loss). Stourbridge on the other hand have lost their final four games and drew one game.
Southern Premier Division:
AFC Wimbledon vs Lewes
AFC Wimbledon host Championship relegated side Lewes FC at Plough Lane to start the season off. Wimbledon was in Division One South East last season as the side got promoted after a 2-1 Win against Actonians at home.
Meanwhile for Lewes, they went from the Championship to Southern Premier Division and their final game was an away trip to London City Lionesses as they lost 3-2. Wimbledon were on a good run as they had won three of their last five games and drawn the other two games. Lewes have lost four of their final games but won against fellow relegation side Watford.
Billericay Town vs Gwalia United:
Billericay Town host Gwalia United at the New Lodge for the start of the new season. Gwalia United changed from Cardiff City for this season and beyond with everything about this is on their personal website.
Billericay’s last game was a home visit for Ipswich Town as they lost 1-0 in their final game. They have won one game, drew one game, and lost three games. For Gwalia, they lost 2-1 against Oxford at home as they were named Cardiff City. They lost all five of their previous five games and are looking to improve this season.
Cheltenham Town vs Plymouth Argyle:
Plymouth Argyle will travel to Cheltenham Town for their opening game. Cheltenham’s last game was against Hashtag United for their final game of the season as they lost 3-0. Meanwhile for Plymouth, they lost 2-1 against MK Dons in the final game of the season with them only winning one game, drawing one and losing three.
Hashtag United vs Watford:
Recently relegated side Watford will travel to Hashtag United in hope to go straight back up to the Championship. Hashtag United’s last game was a 3-0 win away from home trip to Cheltenham meanwhile for Watford their final game was a 3-2 home win against Reading. Hashtag won four of their final five games with one loss in the middle with Watford winning only one and losing the other four final games.
Oxford United vs Ipswich Town:
Ipswich will travel to Oxford United on the opening weekend as they look to do well this season. Oxford played their final game of last season against Cardiff City as they lost 2-1 meanwhile Billericay was Ipswich’s last game of the season as they won 1-0.
Oxford have had a mixed bag of results in their final five of last season as they won three and lost two. Ipswich have won four of their last five games but have also lost one.
Exeter City vs MK Dons:
In the opening game, Exeter host MK dons at the Exwick Sports Hub. Exeter got promoted from the Division One South West league last season and their last game was against Bournemouth as they drew 1-1 on the final day of the season.
