The Manchester born goalkeeper had her breakthrough season this campaign, being first choice keeper and then winning the golden glove in the WSL.
About Keating:
The 19 year old started at Manchester United for five years from the age of 6-11 before moving to the other side of Manchester and has been there ever since. She has been on loan twice, once in National League North and then in the Championship.
She was born in Ardwick, Manchester and her mother set up a team of which Keating played as a striker before moving to between the sticks.
This season, Keating had her own mural based where she grew up which showed the impact that she made throughout her breakthrough season. The mural also included other key figures, and was based in Fallowfield in Manchester.
Club Career so far:
In the 2020/21 season, the young starlet started on the bench as she started to rack up features in the squad. At the start of the following season, she went to AFC Fylde on loan in National League North. She made seven appearances for the side before returning to City due to a long injury list.
She came back for cover and she made her debut on 12th January 2022. She featured in the FA Women’s League Cup against Leicester City and then made her debut in the WSL 4 days later. She played 90 minutes against Aston Villa and got a clean sheet on her first appearance. In her first season, she won the FA Women’s League Cup with the side.
In January 2023, she joined Championship side Coventry City and made four appearances. She then returned to Manchester this season and in the first month of the season, she was nominated for WSL Player of the Month. She received the Manchester City Rising star award at the end of the 2022/23 season.
In November 2023, Keating signed a 3 year contract extension after starting the opening six games of the season after becoming first choice goalkeeper. In December 2023, she had the third highest save percentage and in the 5th Round FA Cup game vs Arsenal she performed saves that kept the Manchester side in the competition. At the end of 2023/24 season, Khiara Keating won the WSL Golden Glove after securing nine clean sheets.
International Career so far:
Keating made only one appearance for the Lionesses u15 squad. She made her debut for the u19 squad in the 2022 Championship Qualifiers as she featured against the Republic of Ireland on 20th October 2021. She also got a clean sheet during the match as the Lionesses won 1-0.
In August 2022, Keating was involved in the U23 Squad against Norway but was an unused substitute. She also featured a year later in September 2023 as she was an unused substitute against both Norway and Belgium in the U23 European League.
She received her first senior England call up after featuring for the opening games of the WSL. She got called up for the October camp for the games in the middle of the Women’s Nations League games against Belgium.
